本展では、韓国出身のアーティスト Minhee Kim（ミンヒ・キム） @guilyukによるソロプレゼンテーションを発表。(改行トルツメ)《salvation》《Jibril》《embrace》（Oil and acrylic on canvas, 2023）、3点の大作を中心に展示を構成し、彼女の実践における力強くコンセプチュアルかつヴィジュアルな入口として提示いたします。

Minheeの作品は、1990年代以降のサイバーパンク、テクノ・オリエンタリズム、東アジアのポップカルチャーの交差点を出発点としています。ノスタルジア、サブカルチャーのパスティーシュ、そしてトランスナショナルなアイデンティティを軸に、現代におけるアイデンティティと表象の問題に批評的に取り組んでいます。

本シリーズでは、マスメディアやアニメーションに登場する理想化・平面化された女性像を解体し、ジェルメディウムと油絵具による厚みのある筆致で再構築しています。デジタル時代に消費されるフェミニニティの幻想に抵抗するかのように、断片化され、崩れながらも物質性を持った身体として描き直されています。これらの作品は、アジアの女性性がいかに構築・フェティッシュ化され、メディアを通して流通しているのかを問うものであり、視覚的魅力とともに消費の暴力性や欺瞞を浮かび上がらせ、新たな神話的イメージとして提示されます。

さらに本展では、Minheeが近年ニューヨーク「Art Omi」でのレジデンス期間中に制作した新作シリーズも発表し、彼女の批評的な視覚言語と絵画的実験を一層拡張いたします。

CON_ will present a solo presentation by Korean artist Minhee Kim, centering on her large-scale triptych paintings — salvation, Jibril, and embrace (Oil and acrylic on canvas, 2023) — which serve as a powerful conceptual and visual entry point into her practice.

Minhee Kim’s work explores the intersections of cyberpunk, techno-orientalism, and East Asian pop culture from the 1990s onward. Her hybrid visual language is shaped by nostalgia, subcultural pastiche, and transnational identity, while critically engaging with contemporary questions of identity and representation.

In this series, Minhee dissects characters and figures typified in mass media—particularly two-dimensional, idealized female bodies rendered for digital and global consumption. Referencing images from East Asian animation and dramatized media scenes, Minhee distorts these standardized icons through layers of gel medium and oil paint, granting them a renewed, tangible presence.

The resulting figures are fragmented, disintegrated, and re-narrated—offering a tactile resistance to the consumerist fantasies projected onto femininity.

These works embody Minhee’s critique of how Asian femininity is constructed, fetishized, and circulated within both local and global media cultures. By deconstructing the aesthetics of idealization and revealing the violence and deception embedded in visual consumption, Minhee constructs new mythologies—visually arresting, politically urgent, and emotionally resonant.

Alongside these three works, we will introduce a new painting series developed during her recent residency at Art Omi in New York, further expanding Minhee’s critical language and textural exploration through new iconography and painterly experimentation.

Minhee Kim（1991年生まれ）は、韓国の世宗大学で絵画の学士号（BFA、2015年）を取得し、その後、弘益大学で絵画の修士号（MFA、2020年）を取得しました。Kimの主な個展には、「Image Album」（2021年、Cylinder、ソウル）、「Ghost Bikini」（2019年、out_sight、ソウル）、「Okinawa Fantasy」（2018年、Hapjungjigu、ソウル）があります。

彼女の作品は、「Hysteria: Contemporary Realism Painting」（2023年、一民美術館、ソウル）、「2022 Y Artist Project: FUNKY—FUNCTION」（2022年、大邱アートミュージアム、大邱）をはじめ、以下の会場でも展示されています：Salihara Arts Center（2023年、ジャカルタ）、N/A, Cylinder（2022年、ソウル）、Museumhead（2021年、ソウル）、Hall 1（2021年、ソウル）、Factory2（2020年、ソウル）

Minhee Kim earned a BFA in painting from Sejong University (2015, South Korea) and an MFA in painting from Hongik University(2020, South Korea). Kim’s solo exhibitions include Image Album (2021, Cylinder, Seoul), Ghost Bikini (2019, out_sight, seoul), and Okinawa Fantasy(2018, Hapjungjigu, Seoul). Kim’s work has been exhibited in Hysteria: Contemporary Realism Painting (2023, Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul), 2022 Y artist project: FUNKY—FUNCTION (2022, Daegu Art Museum, Daegu) and at venues including Salihara Arts Center (2023, Jakarta), N/A, Cylinder(2022 Seoul), Museumhead (2021, Seoul), Hall 1(2021, Seoul), and Factory2 (2020, Seoul)
