NEURO HARD

2024.11.27(WED) - 2025.1.15(SUN)

---- Exhibition Title: NEURO HARD Artists: ミンヒ・キム / Minhee Kim @guilyuk・イェイン・リー / Yein Lee @yeinplee Dates / 会期: 2024.11.27 (WED) – 2025.1.12 (SUN) Opening Reception: 2024.11.27 (WED) 18:00–21:00 Design: Heijiro Yagi @heijiroyagi Text: Eisaku Sakai @practice_00_ at: CON_(4F)@con_tokyo_ maruka 4F, 2-2-14 Nihonbashi Bakurocho, Chuoku, Tokyo Open : Thu–Sun 14:00–19:00 Closed : Mon, Tue, Wed, public holidays, unless announced otherwise CON_ is pleased to present "NEURO HARD", a duo exhibition by Minhee Kim and Yein Lee, featuring all new works by both artists, on view from November 27 (Wed), 2024 to January 12 (Sun), 2025. There is no heart here. There is no god. A bundle of cables is laid out in every direction. The firing of electrical signals never stops flickering. This planet is nothing more than that. A "machine city" made of plastic and minerals. A neural network generated anew each time. A world where human dreams have shattered. The body that was once unified—its face, hands, gender—became materials of the network, its essential conditions. The mechanism where biological reproduction and industrial reproduction became synonymous gave rise to a hybrid of flowers and brains, minerals and hair, neurons and hardware, weaving deformed love and myth. Now, the function of creation once entrusted to nature and motherhood has been replaced by the connection and transformation of all things. This is called "healing." Wounds become factors that generate new circuits, and the world continues to be rewritten, molded by pain, dysfunction, difference, and disconnection. The healing of wounds. That is the most beautiful phenomenon in this world. ---- Exhibition Title: NEURO HARD Artists: ミンヒ・キム / Minhee Kim @guilyuk・イェイン・リー / Yein Lee @yeinplee Dates / 会期: 2024.11.27 (WED) – 2025.1.12 (SUN) Opening Reception: 2024.11.27 (WED) 18:00–21:00 Design: Heijiro Yagi @heijiroyagi Text: Eisaku Sakai @practice_00_ at: CON_(4F)@con_tokyo_ maruka 4F, 2-2-14 Nihonbashi Bakurocho, Chuoku, Tokyo Open : Thu–Sun 14:00–19:00 Closed : Mon, Tue, Wed, public holidays, unless announced otherwise

Minhee Kim @guilyuk Minhee Kim (b. 1991) earned a BFA in painting from Sejong University (2015, South Korea) and an MFA in painting from Hongik University (2020, South Korea). Kim's solo exhibitions include Image Album (2021, Cylinder, Seoul), Ghost Bikini (2019, out_sight, Seoul), and Okinawa Fantasy (2018, Hapjungjigu, Seoul). Kim's work has been exhibited in Hysteria: Contemporary Realism Painting (2023, Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul), 2022 Y Artist Project: FUNKY—FUNCTION (2022, Daegu Art Museum, Daegu), and at venues including Salihara Arts Center (2023, Jakarta), N/A, Cylinder (2022, Seoul), Museumhead (2021, Seoul), Hall 1 (2021, Seoul), and Factory2 (2020, Seoul). Yein Lee @yeinplee Yein Lee is a South Korean artist who currently lives and works in Vienna. After receiving a BFA in Traditional Asian Painting from Hongik University, Lee received an MA from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her practice revolves around a system of becoming, procedural redefinition, and the structure of connectivity. Juxtaposing growth and decay, her works embody the body as an ever-growing, incomplete network system. Through the reuse of discarded everyday objects as part of installation, sculpture, and performance, the assemblage format with the handmade piece serves to capture personal experience and narrative, while also manifesting a contradictory attitude towards materials in the context of social and environmental crisis. Her works navigate the ambivalence surrounding contemporary commodity culture, the economy, and the political dynamics that underpin it in ways that are at once eroding and empowering. As transient compositions, fluctuating roughness and fragility are at the forefront of her formal investigation. Her works have recently been presented internationally in group exhibitions at the 15th Gwangju Biennale, Centre d'Art La Meute, Château – Centre d'Art Contemporain de la Ville d'Aubenas, Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris; Belvedere 21, Kunstraum Niederösterreich, Vienna, among others.
